Melo lost in the first round!!

Does anyone know if he will get any points at all for that?

If my maths/understanding of ATP rankings is correct (and there's a reasonable chance I'm missing something) then if Melo gets 0 and Jamie Murray reaches the semi-final at Indian Wells then Jamie will be World #1 by 5 pts!

Indiana normally tracks the doubles rankings, so may know

Dom and Robert won via retirement.

Very glad that the Inglot/Linstedt pairing is going through, though sorry about the retirement.

And malincanada, I'm no expert, but my calculations give the same result as yours. GB may owe quite a bit to Juan Martin del Potro ... though I'm rather regretful that the #1, if it comes here, would come at the expense of Mr Inglot.

Don't know whether to laugh or cry at this result:

R2: (4) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 12 (2+10) defeated Dom Inglot & Robert Lindstedt (SWE) CR 59 (32+27) by 4-6 6-3 [10-4]

****

QF: (4) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 12 (2+10) vs Feliciano Lpez & Marc Lpez (ESP/ESP CR 67 (38+29)

45 points for the first round, according to last year's draw.

Seems quite excessive - in singles they only get 10 'appearance' points.

That is an error on the draw sheet. A first round loss in a Masters Series results in a zero pointer.

And a mandatory zero pointer at that, if I remember correctly, for players at their level. Or is that wrong?

Correct. I recall a time when between Grand Slams and Masters Series Jamie had 6 or 7 mandatory zeros.

Noticed that this match is on the main court - unusual for a doubles match - and possibly because if Mr Murray and Mr Soares win, the new #1 is going to be marked in some way? No pressure then .....
