Not doing anything extrovertly special, just quietly going about business very efficiently. Consolidates a break in the second. 6-4 2-0*
Double break, claimed with a flashing cross court service return winner. Allertova looks a bit stunned generally, and, to quote an orange balloon, "very low energy". 6-4 *3-0
Funny old game! Jo broken to 15. 6-4 3-1*
Allertova, raggedly, hands back the second break. DF's and fairly wild shotmaking, or rather, shotmissing. We'll take it, either way 6-4 *4-1
Jo holds to love, Allertova barely playing a coherent shot in the game, capped by an almost apologetic drop shot attempt in to the net. I promise, Angie wasn't so injured in the last round that the Denisa Allertova we're seeing today would have beaten her. I'll take this as a sign of how well Jo is playing against her 6-4 5-1*

Allertova finds a nice angle cross court winner to save it. Deuce Jo makes a second which Allertova saves via an almost stone dead net cord. A third set up nicely... Jo into the IW last 16

Good win for Johanna. Allertova was all over the place with some rocket winners mixed up with some poor unforced errors. Its amazing to think that this time last year Konta was outside the top 100. When you look at her great forehand and serve aswell as her athleticism its no surprise to see her doing well. I think it just goes to show the importance of getting the right mental approach. Given her good start to the year she really is doing her best to take the pressure off the second half of the season. Whats also impressive is that she has done better at the bigger events, perhaps she's just a bit more focussed. I think it augurs well for the future that she seems to raise her game when it really counts for these more showpiece tournaments.
Hopefully she can transfer this across over the coming months and win her first WTA title.
Jo is now guaranteed to end IW with at least 2028 points. Thus, crossing the two thousand point mark for the first time, and being the first Brit in WTA history to ever do so.
Jo still has 12 results to defend this year, but she's certainly done enough so far to make up for it. Almost half of the 2028 points (990) are from this year. I think it would be great if she can secure a top 32 for the season before the US Open and that certainly seems possible given her recent performances.
