Interestingly one of the few I've not seen play live yet(I saw him at Manchester ITF a couple of years ago, but I missed his match). Hopefully at Manchester or Ilkley challenger.
Nice to see Lloyd continue his steady rise up the rankings. I don't think it is out of the question that he could make the top 200 and have something of a career on the challenger tour. The serve and forehand combo is a potent one that will win him matches regardless of other weaknesses in his game.
I have never seen him so I am intrigued.
Do you not think he has any top 100 potential? tbh, after Kyle he is all we have got, there is no promising 18-20 year olds. To have a decent career on the man tour, stats would suggest by the age of 22-23, you need to be knocking on the door of the top 100.
To be fair I do think Liam still has top 100 potential but he desperately needs to figure out how to make the most of his ability sooner rather than later. He had a real window at the start of last year and lost a lot of matches by narrow margins to players in and around the top 100. I am not the expert that so many of you here are but I do think his game is not too far away from being competitive at challenger and ultimately at 250 level but I don't know what has caused him to stagnate.
Does Lloyd have the potential to make the top 100? Given his rapid rise up the rankings since hitting the tour, absolutely. The standard really isn't all that high. Does that make it likely? Far too early to say. Will be interesting to see where Lloyd sits when he has a full count of tournaments, and will be interesting to see if he continues this upwards trajectory or if he starts to balance out.
That's a really interesting set of SFs: Filip Peliwo takes on Stefan Kozlov, and Mr Glasspool takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime. One of those times when you think that were you in the area it would be very worth popping along to see, as there's a lot of potential for the future in those matches. (Said by someone who still regrets not going to a local futures years ago that featured a number of GB players who later entered the top echelons of doubles)
In the doubles, it's a pity about the B's loss - would have been great if, having done so well all week, they could have won the title! But I thought I recognised Max Schnur's name and checked ... and the GB loss needs to be seen in the context that he still hasn't played a full year on the tour, so his ranking is artificially low. He and a partner from his university won the US university championships a few years ago.
I agree, under achieving phenom v progressing phenom, uni grad trying to make it v emerging phenom. Fantastic value for someone who loves tennis!
As to whether Lloyd has the potential to make it onto the ATP tour, it is very difficult to answer. Potential and opportunity in tennis are very much linked. I know very little about Lloyds personal circumstances but a bit about Woodrush High School. This Hollywood is a bit more Lickey than Beverley Hills and is not the type of institution that is packed with parents running their own tennis coaching academies in Chiswick, sport is more squeeze 12 kids in a mini bus for after school football game in Bromsgrove.
Given his junior rank (about 600) and the level he played at as a junior ie grade 4/5 tournaments reaching the final rounds only as an 18 year old he has more than realised his potential. I would assume that getting to the level he did as a junior was more about talent than opportunity and UT was his first opportunity to fully commit to playing tennis with high level coaching support this would correlate well with his year on year progress their and very impressive senior year. Cam Newton is probably at the same level at the end of his Freshman year.
Given that background Lloyd has probably shown more than enough potential to continue to develop to a level where he dominates back to back futures and progresses to challenger level but beyond that i think opportunity in the form of access to coaching resources may be the issue. Lloyd was selected as a member of the all academic Big 12 team and his studies were very much around sport and to a lesser extent teaching so perhaps he has prepared for his attempt at going pro off and on court. Maybe the the LTA should adopted a help those that help themselves and fund an elite coach at Soto?
All that said so far his progress has been bostin.

Lloyd is in the qualifying draw at Drummondville challenger and still playing here. He has a bye, but if he wins today, might have to play two matches in one day.
Google maps suggest it is an hour drive away.
I was looking at live-rankings.eu to check on Lloyd's progress and although they acknowledge he made the semi-final, for some reason they've only added 1 ranking point - surely some mistake
