Italy or Argentina would be a home semi final, since we last played away to both. Just a slight obstacle first !

The full QF draw, copying from the other thread is :

Quarter Finals ( seeded teams * ) :

Serbia* home to Great Britain*
Italy home to Argentina*
Czech Republic* home to France*
USA home to Croatia

We need Kyle fit and firing on all cylinders after his breakthrough at RG 2016.

Don't assume it will be on clay.

Might be on hard, especially if Bedene becomes available.

Andy v Novak on clay might be more of a leveller, but Nole would be favourite on hard (assumes he is available for selection)

Just 2526 kilometres according to ViaMichelin.

Doable.

I see Leon Smith has extended his contract as Davis Cup captain for a further 3 years.  Sounds like good news to me....

Belgrade clay date for GB

Posted at

Great Britain's Davis Cup quarter-final against Serbia will be held on clay at the Tasmajdan Stadium in Belgrade from 15-17 July.

Now we know the surface and venue our preparations can go to the next level," said coach Leon Smith.

Clay might just be Andy's best chance of beating Djokovic at the moment. And it is probably Kyle's best surface as well. Not unhappy with the choice of surface.

It would be nice to get an Andy v Novak clay court preview preview or two before then (esp. given their rankings meaning those would be finals. Really intrigued to see how Andy does on clay this year. It was an interesting start to his clay campaign. My hopes are high after last year and him finding a bit of form last week but cautious given other factors.

Yes, an intriguing and I'm far from sure best choice for Serbia since to me it's as you say if Andy and Kyle play.  Not great for either Novak or Andy to be going back to clay between the grass and hard court seasons ( including the Olympics on hard ).
