Etienne, I hope I'm not teaching my grandmother to suck eggs but there is a general rule for when to use 'less' and when to use 'fewer':
if you can count the number of things, use 'fewer'
if you can't count them (numerically), use 'less'
i.e. No fewer than 10 people came to Ed's leaving party
There are fewer dogs than cats in this photo
(dogs, cats and people can be counted)
But:
Use less flour next time
I have less faith as I grow older
(flour and faith can't be counted, as such)
KK's example is based on the fact that the first example refers to the number of difficult questions (a countable thing) so it's 'fewer'
But the second example refers to the level of difficulty of the questions (a non-countable thing) so it's 'less'
QR2: Russell Henderson UNR lost to (q2) Ivan Arenas Gualda (ESP) WR 812 (CH 353 May 2014) 6-1 6-1
QR2: Jack Molloy UNR beat Maximilien Sanson (SUI) UNR beat 6-4 6-2
QR2: Harry Meehan UNR lost to Sam Bothwell (IRL) WR 2085 (CH 2078 Feb 2016) 6-3 1-0 ret
QR2: (WC) Nikki Roenn UNR lost to (q12) Diego Jose Manrique Velazquez WR 1482 (CH 1431 Sept 2015) 6-2 6-2
QR2: (q8) Joel Cannell WR 1240 beat Pedro Gabriel Rodrigues (BRA) UNR 7-5 6-1
The Harry Meehan score doesn't actually say "Retired" but as they are showing Sam Bothwell in the next round, I think we can assume that it isn't just and unfinished match.
QR3: Jack Molloy UNR lost to (q3) Nuno Deus (POR) WR 957 (CH 943 Oct 2015) 4-6 6-3 6-4 QR3: (q8) Joel Cannell WR 1240 v Alejandro Artunedo (ESP) UNR (CH 1644 Sept 2013)
Looks like a top effort from young Jack there against the Nº3 seed. Joel will probably have to play twice tomorrow.

Glad to have started this debate about "less" & "fewer". I do these things on purpose from time to time, just to provoke learning and conversation. Of course, my Pinocchio nose has just got a bit longer.
I am tempted to ask if I can join in the debate, but expect that someone would tell me that it is "May I join in the debate?". Don't you just love grammar.
Not sure what is happening here. The live scores show Joel WON in a 3rd set breaker. But the draw sheet shows the score the other way around and also shows Joel's opponent down as playing QR4 later.
Botherations. The scores are now in sync and sadly, the wrong way around for Joel. To summarize
QR3: Jack Molloy UNR lost to (q3) Nuno Deus (POR) WR 957 (CH 943 Oct 2015) 4-6 6-3 6-4
QR3: (q8) Joel Cannell WR 1240 lost to Alejandro Artunedo (ESP) UNR (CH 1644 Sept 2013) 3-6 6-3 7-6(5)
