Brit of the Week: Week 8

Hi all!

Thought I'd add a little weekly feature to the forum, to link my new project, Britennis, with the forum and generate a little bit of discussion about players' achievements and who deserves the label of 'Brit of the Week'.

Basically, every week for the past month we've been writing an article and adding a poll to our website, entitled Brit of the Week. We discuss our top three, and then mention those that were also worthy of debate. You can find this week's article, with a more in depth analysis into each player's weekly credentials, here: http://britennis.com/2016/02/29/2947/

We picked Jack Draper, Paul Jubb and Jodie Burrage in our top three, but felt Ryan Storrie, Gabi Taylor, Olivia Elliot and Ali Collins all had decent weeks as well.

So I thought it might be good to get your opinions! Vote here, and then I'll add the tallies manually to the website and flesh out the results a little.

Was Draper's win in Oslo more impressive than Jodie's in Lithuania? Did we miss anyone off the list that deserves a mention?

Have your say below, and vote above.

Enjoy!

Hi, I like your Brit of the week thingy. I've always voted on your site. And putting it on here is a really good idea (it prompts people to go to your site as well as being a cool little poll for those who want to).

(I often award a 'victory of the day' prize - often for quite daft reasons)

But you should have the Skupskis on it, though. You've 100% juniors. I think that alienates people who don't follow junior tennis much. I know there wasn't a lot of great news this week but you've got to try and be balanced between adult, doubles, juniors etc. etc.

CD has hit the nail on the head for for. I am one of those who doesn't really follow the juniors so I have no idea who to vote for. When I saw your tweet, I immediately thought, "I have to vote for the Skupskis" this week only to find that they are not on the list.

Overall, I applaud your efforts and enjoy reading the writeups and articles etc, but like everything, the odd tweak here and there can improve things still further. Keep up the great work.

Fair point. We have a doubles round-up now but it usually comes out on a Tuesday, so kinda bypasses the BotW poll. I'll add them to the article and the poll above.

Also, the whole reason it's so Junior focused this week is because our Pros kinda had a naff week...

Sadly I can't argue with that bit cry

Tara Moore had another decent doubles week and got through qualifying and won a round in singles, so a decent week for her as well.

Just possible you're going to have a far better week to choose from, Brad ?

NB Why don't you have a 'player of the month' too ?

Because I wouldn't vote for Tara as 'player of the week' but, as paulisi says, she's had a good week, and had one the week before too, and 'player of the month' would reflect the less spectacular, but very solid, good month overall profile player in a way that player of the week doesn't.

Week 9 is definitely shaping up. Still a few more wins away from an excellent week all round though.

I've considered doing a "Player of the Month" section, but we'll keep it as is for now and use that to expand further down the line.
