That was, as you (wolf) noted earlier, a really lousy draw anyway. Mertinak has a CH of 12 in doubles, and Stakhovsky is no slouch. Just a pity they lost, given that it was so close - looks as if it could have easily gone either way, and indeed as if the Skupskis had a far superior second set.

Wonder how many of the players at this Challenger have just been nominated for a Laureus Sports Award ...

Great Britain Davis Cup Team

(Great Britain) Tennis

Won the Davis Cup for the first time since 1936. World No.2 Andy Murray led the team to victory, winning all three of his matches in the final to beat Belgium 3-1. Over the year, the team also beat the United States, France and Australia. In five years, captain Leon Smith has led Britain from the third tier to victory. Murray was supported by brother Jamie and James Ward.

Yet the WCs' next opponents, Guez & Teixeira (CR 640 [418+222]), have just managed to see 'em off by 6-2 1-6 [11-9]. hmm

And now Darren bites the dust! cry  Wish he could find himself a half-way decent regular playing partner!

Romain, I believe, is the local tennis coach at Quimper (he's 30 now), and comes from that neck of the woods, so I think every member of his family and ALL his tennis pupils, plus every club member, is there rooting for him....

And it worked......cry
