Brilliant end to a brilliant week for Brits on the WTA!
Great to see Heather not only regain form (not that she was playing that badly before) and take full advantage. Worries about protecting her top 100 status at Indian Wells very much in the past too.
Ten match wins in Main Draws of the full WTA tour is the best for GB in a single week this millennium, by some distance.
Our previous best was seven, which we achieved on two occasions in 2012.
Darn it......I have BTsport on my TV but was so tennised-out by the end of Andy's match, I completely forgot to check if Heather was on anywhere. Well done Miss Watson!
Fantastic result for Heather, and with several cherries on top...
While Mum Michelle certainly gets a full coaching credit for Mother's Day, on court coaching is not allowed at Slams; so it's very encouraging that Heather has shown an ability to manage her own tactics.
This could be a very significant result also for JoKo, who doesn't seem to me to especially relish the full glare of the limelight.
Nice timing in the run-up to IW, where she has a bit of form.
Also, a little vote for Heather's outfit - what a beautiful colour !
It really suits Heather, and thank goodness it's not another pink outfit (Asics, Lotto, Fila, Adidas, Nike - looking at all of you!). Doubly lovely compared to the hideously busy, almost eye straining, thing New Balance Had Hev in recently (Still, not quite as bad as that Adidas strip that Kerber won AO in)
In other frivolous news related to events in Monterrey, the Brit-surgence gets a brief write up in the WTA weekly rankings round up.
Actually, I quite liked Hev's previous outfit. I thought it rather suited her, although I'll admit not everyone who wore that range carried it off half so well! And yes, the new outfit is also lovely, especially when accessorised with that beaming smile....
