Heading out of the top 100 and to GB #3 - not without a fight! Now close to looking like staying top 100 whatever after IW and Miami though will need a win or two more here or at these to keep Miss Broady at bay. But both of them winning is all good.
As said, she hasn't lost in straight sets all year and that includes 8 matches against top 100 players ( she is 4-4 in these matches ) including 4 top 50 players ( she is 2-2 in these ). 2 of her own 4 wins in these top 100 matches have been in straight sets and she has also won her 2 non top 100 matches in straight sets.
So very competitive and if she had just been able to see through one or two more matches actually not far off a pretty good start to the year. It is ultimately about winning though, getting over that line, so hopefully she can improve her match closures in the months to come.

As ISF said, when Jo has beaten Wickmayer before she won the title that week and same when Heather has beaten Hercog. A duel in the final to keep one record would do just fine!
QF: Heather Watson WR 84 vs Mirjana Lucic-Baroni (CRO) WR 71 (CH 32 17/05/98 when aged 16) or (2) Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) WR 22 (CH 1 11/10/10)
