But caught up and is in a tie break ... against an opponent who, in a triumph of bad scheduling, the tournament had put down to play 4th in singles on court 3 ... and 4th in doubles on court 2.
I'd just noticed that too
And, although a lot of the earlier matches also have players involved in doubles, the very first match on court 2 has two players not playing doubles at all - what was the organiser thinking of ????

Odd, isn't it, CD? Tabilo (1st on Court 2) is in doubles. But even so ...
I think the issue may be the draw of the FAA/Shapovalov team and the top seed's singles match. Logically, the FAA/Shap match should be on Court 2 and the Tabilo/van Rijthoven v Peliwo/Glasspool on Court 3; But if Court 3 is centre court (so to speak), they may have wanted to put the wunderkinder on it. And they may have wanted to ensure that the main singles match (no 1 seed v Mr Corrie) was the "night match." Still seems unhelpful - and some of those matches may well go quite late.
Nice break by Mr Smethurst to start the second set!

Not a bad loss for Mr Smethurst: van Rijthoven seems to be a player who is pulling things together. Similarly surprised by the scoreline in the second doubles match, but not stunned by the loss.* And a very good win for the Glasspool/Peliwo pairing (Mr Smethurst's efforts also can't have hurt!)
QF: (4) Lloyd Glasspool & Filip Peliwo (CAN) CR 959 (363+596) d Alejandro Tabilo & Tim van Rijthoven (CAN/NED) CR 2265 (1385+880) 3-6 6-4 10-8
SF: (4) Lloyd Glasspool & Filip Peliwo (CAN) CR 959 (363+596) v Sebastian Fanselow & Adrian Sikora (GER/SVK) CR 2093 (1722 + 371)
Messrs Fanselow and Sikora put out the 1st seeds.
*Ed's note: just looked at Shapovalov's recent ITF (pro) record, which I hadn't before. Slightly scary. Knew he was good. Hadn't realised that (at 16) he was winning Futures and trouncing Jason Kubler 6-1 6-3.

I'm sure this has been talked about previously, so apologies for asking again. What is the points breakdown for $25k Futures events? It is not on the ATP's rankings FAQs not is it on the drawsheet...
