What happened? Potentially decent draws for three of our players? Something must have gone amiss. Hope that when the Qs are assigned they really are good draws.
Hard for Mr Glasspool to be up against the younger Harrison - both a fine player and someone it would feel churlish not to wish well. I noticed he and Ms Robson were tweeting each other a little while ago about their respective injury comebacks.
This six months is going to be very interesting with Lloyd.
He's shown he's a very able 10-15k player. The question is can he now move up to the next level.
Sim's table shows that pretty much half of us think 'yes' and half think 'no'.
I'm in the 'yes' camp. But it's all to be seen. Consolidating where he is now would not be so bad either, and would move him up a fair bit, given his lack of points till summer.
But it's not what the big picture is about.
His next match will be against Halebian who put out Evan King in two sets.
Ed is very much a confidence player and tends to have good results in batches, so I'm expecting a good few weeks in Canada after his good week in Shrewsbury.
So much trouble with injury in the last 6 months - so good to see him back and feeling fit and up-beat.
Of course, he's in line to get the top seed in the next round so that's a whole different kettle of fish from a 29 year-old WR 866 qualifier but well done, all the same.
Bambo too may well end up with Quigley in R2 which is a tricky match, to say the least, but this is a 25K after all.....
