Very very well done Naomi!

Get in - that is some result, must be one of her best scalps ever.

I suspect Heather might win now...

Make that 11 points on the trot; MP #1 goes West but not MP #2

YAY O YAY O YAY

Congrats Naomi :D :D

Naomi holds to love 6-5

Lisicki serving to stay in the match:

1st serve decides to go for a forehand drop shot immediately after her serve, not such a great choice as it lands half way up the net 0-15

df 0-30

1st serve Naomi gets it back but looks like an easy winner for Sabine but no she's dumped her forehand in the net 0-40

1st serve Naomi gets it back, Sabine with a deep backhand that Naomi can't cope with 15-40

1st serve Naomi gets it back, Sabine with a backhand down the line into the open space, no she's pushed it just wide to gift Naomi the match 7-5

Shocking game from Naomi to get broken. 2 dfs and a poor backhand into the net. Really gave that away 4-5*

The rot apparently started in the previous game, deuce, when two successive dubious Lisicki first serves were called in, the first on an overrule from the umpire on the centre line call. Naomi was always going to serve a couple of DFs after that. She does let emotion interfere.

I agree that Naomi devotes far too much energy to disputing line calls that are never going to get over-ruled. Whether they were just in or just out was not easy to tell on my stream. Earlier in the match I saw at least one Broady serve that looked out yet was called in, leaving Sabine looking bewildered.

and a half!
After that second set, regrouped brilliantly, got back in to the match, overcame multiple threats and stayed strong to the end.
Superb stuff, and all earned.

Naomi's 2nd top 50 win, and second best ever scalp.

Genie is still slowly finding her full powers. Hopefully Naomi can put her back in the bottle for a little while longer!

Great win - Lisicki can have good and bad days, but Naomi doesn't have many wins against players as high as WR31 so this one should be celebrated!

Disappointingly only 15 aces in the match though (10 from Naomi so she got her fair share)

Oh yay indeed ! Superb result.

Love the fact that the only reason that Naomi has not already provisionally gone to GB # 2 with her WTA tour SF is that Heather has so far reached the QF in another WTA tour event. Keep on going both, and Jo!

Naomi up to #27 in running in the WTA race to Singapore ( Jo is #7 ).
