Ali is seeded 8, Fran 9 and Emily 13. Emily is seeded to meet the second seed Maria Lourdes Carle, ranked just outside 50 after consistent performances in G1 to G3 events in recent months, in the last 16
I don't know if she's really focused on this but Ali Collins has the majority of her points rolling off in March so definitely needs some replacement ones if she can.
As said, with the move of country/training camp etc., it might not be priority but it'll knock her right down.
Of course, she might have a great run and not an issue
(I'm a BIG fan of Ali)
The same applies to Fran to a lesser degree (never seen Fran play)
NB So, two out of three of the GB top girl players here are based overseas. Are the LTA coaches going to 'coach' them or just to watch them?
The third round opponents were much tougher, and the results seem consistent with the quality of the opponents - which means it is all down to Ali here in singles

Thanks for the link. So close in Costa Rica and Ali a year younger than Morgan, despite the difference in the rankings but should be a close run thing tomorrow.
Wow that's a nice win for her and great revenge too. Having watched a bit of their match from last year I can imagine her game playing well on clay. It's so nice to see a female junior mixing it up with slices and drop shots. Both girls were quite obnoxious at times, especially Morgan when she was screaming "c'mons" on Ali's double faults. Some of Ali's bemused glances back were gold.
Very nice win but I did feel Ali would have the edge on her this time being so close last year, a year younger and stepping up the intensity of her training with the move across the pond. No matter how much is invested in the UK we can't change the climate and compete with what the sunbelt offers re all year round out door training. Handsome rewards for her efforts so far, let's hope she can continue doing damage to top100 opponents.
In the semis Ali plays the Argentinian who Emily handed out bakery products to in last week's semi. Krywoj may be playing better this week though, as today she beat a player 2 & 0 who had pushed her in a close 3 setter last week. Morgan Coppoc lost to the Argentinian second seed Carle in her last 3 tournaments, so Ali has kindly spared her that fate again
