RE: Week 8 - WTA Premier ($2.5M) - Doha, Qatar - Hard

Its been exceptionally windy in Doha so that probably didn't help given her ball toss

I take on board the points that philwrig & Coup Droit make above. Certainly this would be more valuable later in the season, with more data points, which would smooth out individual special circumstances to better show underlying patterns.

There are now two pages, you can switch between them using the text buttons at the top.

I'll not state my conclusions, but instead leave you to draw your own.

Thanks to LongTimeReader & especially kundalini, for help with the data  The WTA stats are from the official data, so I'd hope that was right.

Really interesting ISF. I suspect you'd find the highest (negative) correlation between windspeed and Naomi's success this year.

Her doubles match has started.

Not to take away from Ms Vesnina, but my understanding was that Halep probably shouldn't be playing (and originally was not going to play) this tournament.

That's probably true, but it still shows that Vesnina is playing more like her old self.

Exactly. So don't think there's anything wrong with Broady at all!

For those that bemoan the lack of variety in the game, especially the women's game, today provided an exception you might savour, as Aga Radwanska & Monica Niculescu sought to play every shot in the book, often in a single rally. You can see brief highlights (3:11), here.

Turns out that Navratilova/Shriver record is pretty good, huh!
