Perhaps a bit of a reality check after such a great start to the year. Return stats are awful, even more so when you notice that Vesnina's dfs count for half the 2nd serve return points Naomi won.
First serve percentage slightly up on yesterday but still far too low.
All Naomi's bp chances came in Vesnina's opening service game.
Still not sure how good a player Naomi is when the conditions aren't in her favour. Think she's got the potential to be ok but the execution still needs some work.
The good new for Naomi is she has very few points to defend until after Wimbledon, so she has a bit of time to adjust to playing on the main tour, where conditions won't always favour her.
Very disappointing. She must have some niggle or other issue hampering her I feel.
Naomi's serve not really on song, which still does happen, if much less frequently than before. And maybe some other aspects not at their best
In other regards real disappointment at losing to a player like Vesnina just speaks volumes for the progress Naomi has made rather than has me suspecting niggles
Not sure what the LL rules are at WTA events but she looks to be the highest ranked loser in the final round if that counts for anything. Would be a great bonus to get in anyway at this point.

I'm sorry but why is it their is always someone who looks for an excuse? Why are some people so bias? - well that's how the above comment comes across.
Look she might have had some better results of late and I've made no secret that Im no fan of Naomi Broady and thought her behaviour in trying to get Ostapenko disqualified (and I don't condone Ostapenko's behaviour) did her no favours with many other fans and crying when she didn't get her own way was just ridiculous. But when her serve is not working or when conditions are not in he favour she really isn't that difficult to beat. Just my opinion.
