Tara had been posting cute photos of her and Conny in Brazil - wondered what she was doing there and if she was going to turn up in the event somewhere ......

Good luck to the two of them.

I'd hoped Tara would turn up in Surprise this week, given her past success there.
The reason for being in Brazil (and on the devil dust) isn't immediately obvious to me in the grand scheme of things, but trust that there is a substantive plan, so good luck to her.
Draw for the doubles overall is quite soft, so some hope of a win or two.

There are a couple of 25ks in Brazil after this.

Doubles draw is about 50k standard - great opportunity here

Under way in sweltering Rio.
As GS don't count, this is Tara's first WTA match of any sort since QR1 of singles in Eastbourne in June 2014, and her first MD WTA action since Edgbaston singles R64 in June 2013.
As far as I can tell this is only her 10th WTA match ever in qualies/singles/doubles combined. All but one of those came from WC in UK events - the exception a QR1 loss to Mona Barthel in Copenhagen way back in June 2011.

Not the greatest start for Tara & Conny, 0-2*

Well done! $1,312 & 60 ranking points, thank you very much
They rather exposed their opposition there, gave them, if you will a 'Brazillian'! Ahem!

They next meet the second seeds, including Hev's good friend and oft time compadre, Marina (who I barely recognised with her now platinum blonde hair)

R1: Tara MOORE/Conny PERRIN (GBR/SUI) 471 defeated Cindy BURGER/Laura PIGOSSI (NED/BRA) 472 6-2 6-1
QF: Tara MOORE/Conny PERRIN (GBR/SUI) 471 vs. Marina ERAKOVIC/Silvia SOLER-ESPINOSA (NZL/ESP) 196 [2]

Splendid

60 ranking points ( net 56 ) should in running take Tara from WR 284 to around WR 240 ( from 216 points to 272 points ).

She had on Monday just dropped 30 points from a 25K runner up last year. So even nicer to immediately go back up the rankings and then some ( plus more? )

Well done, Tara.

And Conny.

And it also shows some of the benefit of playing French team tennis (or German or whatever) - the two of them have known each other for quite a long time now, and played together a lot: it certainly helps, not only with the playing but the choosing to go out there in the first place.

Is that the plan then? Do an Anna Smith and focus on doubles now? Great start if that's the case!

I doubt it - she is playing 2 x 25K's in the following weeks. Doubles I suspect is a bonus
