Liam back on serve... but that doesn't count for much, his service points won stats are shocking although it does suggest the other guy is returning very well
Wow. Marzi. Didn't see that one coming. Delighted for him as that is a terrific result from his perspective. I guess that as Luke is already in the Top 500 and Marzi is in the 700's, I can at least be happy from that point of view. Marzi would have to take out his CH to make Top 500, but if he plays consistently like this, then why not.
As for Liam, I always had the feeling that he didn't really get going this week, despite a couple of wins. Having won in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago, it was a shame that he didn't play last week too, in order to keep the momentum going.
Ed C has had a solid 2&2 win over Lindahl, whilst Dan C is a set up against Napolitano.
After having got these matches, title and hoped for more confidence in Glasgow that is another concerning loss for Liam. I hope he has good people to turn to to help him get on a solid upward path again for, as against where he had got to, it has in general not been going well for some time.
Ed needs a big week, to get him going again, but the Swede has had some good results this week - it won't be easy Bambo should overcome Marzi Liam should overcome the German Dan C has had some good results, but the Italian may be a step too far.
Predict: Ed v Bambo Napolitana v Liam
Do you sometimes think the players do it on purpose, just to wind us up ?
To be fair, I think everyone expected Liam to win, and Luke too (if that's not unkind to James). I certainly did.
Very pleased for Ed, though - do so hope he manages to stay injury free, and playing, for a while - it'd be nice to see him back in the top 300 where he belongs.
And bravo, Dan Cox. Great form for someone who's barely played a competitive match in 6 months or so.
And a big well done to Jonny Gray and Stefan S-M - a super place in the doubles final, and a guaranteed Brit team champion title.
So Liam wins a 10k coming through qualies, after a tough period for him, he then reaches quarters this week, and then has an off day, I would say thats a pretty decent return, unless I'm missing something. I would say thats a major step in the right direction, but maybe I'm biased or just a poor interpretator of results.
Disappointing for Bambo, but he is still heading in the right direction.
And Coxy showing once again his class, if he was able/prepared to finance his pro career he would perennially be inside the top 250.
And great to see Ed back to near his best, had a terrible time with his back, and had to remodel his serve to cater for that, but it looks like all the rehab is bearing fruition, so great stuff.
