Week 7 - ITF($10k) - The Wirral, UK (Hard)

Hmm, thanks for the feedback.

Anyway, I will stick to my considered prediction that Maia and Gabi will be top 500 ( later this year indeed ). I wasn't going into the what / so what of the whole system, just simply making a rankings prediction ( though I am less pessimistic than you about the accumulated effect of available tournaments etc while agreeing with some of what you say )

In the race so far from November : Gabi ( in running ) has 19 points from 4 counters, Maia 18 points from 5 counters, and one would hope that they are continuing to improve. WR 500 is on 56 points. I see top 500 later this year as a very reasonable prediction, especially as both paulisi and I suggested there could be some clear outriders ( say in the grass season ) such as Freya's 31 points from her Shrewsbury 25K runner up spot all the way from qualifying, which helped her sail into the top 500. One or two outrider weeks ( Gabi already has one 10K title ) don't half help rather than necessary looking at it as looking for 4 points week upon week, although as I have pointed out above the girls are already on decent track even on an averaging basis. Like Gabi this week and next week I would hope and expect them both to play quite a number of tournament abroad and still reach a decent quota.

Anyway, we shall see ...

Here's hoping that you, Indy, and paulisi, and Phil are right, and that Gabi and Maia are both in the top 500 by the end of the year.

I'm with wimbeldont, though.

Not as a downer on either of the girls but just, given their possible commitments to junior tennis, and other factors (tournament availability, injury, whatever), I think they'll find it difficult.

I had Freya down last year to finish in the top 500 (top 400 I think) but she has a different game, is fully funded, and always seemed more likely to 'explode' on the scene, rather than work her way up.

I would go for them both being about 600 (which is actually a fair way off).

And me, hopefully, being 100% wrong (in the right way !)

NB Does anyone (The O?) know when Em Arb goes off to the States? Has she gone? Is she here on holiday? Or when does she start? I've lost track

Emily, along with all the others on P1 of the current college thread will start college this Autumn.  This means they will start heading stateside during the last 2 weeks of August.  Freshmen usually have to be there a week before everyone else as they have all sorts of admin to get through - medical, international registration, acommodation etc etc etc.....

There are one or 2 at the bottom of each list who started this term after Christmas but I have highlighted that fact.
