RE: Week 7 - ITF($10k) - The Wirral, UK (Hard)

Looks as if these forum members who have been talking up Lauryn in the last few days might have decent eyes

Great win for her.

Brilliant win, Lauryn !!

(and more grist to the mill as to what was being said earlier)

Having been beaten by Emily Appleton, too, Kim will have had enough of young Brits these past couple of weeks....

Must admit I watched Appleton v Zimmermann last week and I really didn't think a lot of the Belgian who even resorted to moonballing at one point. Can imagine she let her emotions take over today (negatively)

Lucy completes a sterling comeback to take the first set 7-6(4)
Laura starts the second set more positively 1-6 *1-0

Do we care ? smilesmilesmile

(Yes, the thought had crossed my mind - but she was a top 50 junior and presumably must have played some good tennis to get to where she is).

Lucy had a MTO at the end of the set.

Lauryn was excellent and you are correct in saying the other girl was very emotional at times.

Jodie v Harriet was really good match

Fran was really disappointing, totally lacking in confidence.

The girl Laura D is playing isn't your typical tennis look, but can play a bit.

Maybe the MTO affected Lucy, maybe she just believes now that giving opponents 5 games lead is a viable new tactic, surely she cant repeat the recovery again? 7-6(4) 0-5*
Laura served for the second set unsuccessfully once. Now giving it a second go, 1-6 *5-4

Laura forces the decider, 1-6 6-4
Lucy is forced into the decider, 7-6(4) 0-6

Laura D completes an excellent recovery, 1-6 6-4 6-4
Lucy could not keep climbing huge mountains, and fell, 7-6(4) 0-6 4-6

Just Emily left to complete then, and she's just starting now.

I know we've got some serious Laura D fans on this forum so brilliant result for them (and her !). And all of us, of course.

Sad face for Lucy......

Tough first set for Emily, against the annoyingly good and persistent French spoiler of the last three events, 1-6
