Am I completely wrong? I thought Sabrina had had a stint over there.
But you know the US inside out and so I must have got the wrong end of the stick completely.
Sorry - no idea why I got that into my head .....
Think you're maybe getting your Sabrinas mixed up.....Sabrina Federici is at Texas Tech ....and doing very well (But IMO by far the stronger of the 2 Sabrinas). Not sure what Miss Bamburac has been up to, but I seem to recall hearing about injuries over the last couple of years.
Maia is down with her "boyfriend??". He said she was really disappointed to miss out on the SE and they had to rush over. He said that semi was real topsy turvy and could have gone either way at Sunderland, but Manon was a top player who had struggled with injuries.
As for Maia very patchy, very inconsistent on serve, but a bit more know how for her opponent, who was no mug.
A lot of the players - ranked or not - are very similar in ability and a lot is down to consistency and mental strength at this level
Didn't think much of Georgie Axon, given she seems to have some LTA backing - Beechy seems to be looking after her and Jodie this week. Lauryn was excellent. I saw her at Liverpool in Nov and I think she has improved. Big powerful game and decent net player. I think she will do well in the senior game. Her mum said she has bags of talent, but lacking in mental strength.
Megan is a lovely player - very good with her angles and was an easy winner even though she made it hard for herself in the first set with the first serve not firing. The only thing I will say is she is slight and lacks a bit of power.
Eden is another with a powerful game and her returns of serve were excellent and was good approaching the net. If she can get some consistency on those groundstrokes, she could climb into the rankings. Her opponent was disappointing
Louise Holtum played very well for a set, but again it seems she can only keep those levels for a set and steady Savannah won through
Hannah came through in a weird match. It looked like neither player wanted to take it by the scruff of the neck and the standard was mixed. Hannah is only 16 and she is reliant on that lefty serve which became really solid in the final set. However if Chloe Hughes could find any sort of consistency, she could be a decent player. She has a powerful game, made loads of outrageous winners, but far too many unforced errors and her serve was all over the place.
We have three all GB ties of which i'll predict Lauryn, Holly and Maia will come through. Of the others, Megan has the best chance of causing an upset.
Thanks for all the info, paulisi. Much appreciated.
As for Maia, I mentioned before, when I read that she was one win from a SE, I think Maia would have been rather more interested in reaching the final than the SE that came with that! But, yes, all in all coming across to play qualifying here the next day, a bit of a patchy flatter performance seems to me unsurprising. I'd imagine that it's just get through qualifying for now. She seems on a good path..

Thanks very much for that, paulisi. Are you there tomorrow too?
Glad (although not glad really, I guess) to see that you have the same feel about Georgina Axon - and, yes, it does beg a question about funding - frankly, I thought there were a lot of more promising players when I saw her, and it sounds from your report that you thought so too - consistency isn't the be-all-and-end-all at this age, otherwise you just end up with a Ren sisters sort of player.
Would love to see Megan, never have.
And I like Lauryn's mum too I couldn't believe it when she told me that Lauryn didn't get a cent from the LTA - AND you're saying that she's playing better and better - which is not surprising as she certainly has some excellent qualities, as said above. (Although the 'not a cent' comment just possibly might be out of date now - said in hope rather than expectation.....)
Am a fan of Eden's game too - lots to like there. Think she had some injury problems quite recently ?
Either at Wirral or Shrewsbury - undecided at present. Definitely at Wirral Tuesday and the one of the finals on Saturday (subject to British interest)
Megan has just lost - fell apart towards end of the first set.
Maia 4-1 down second set. Won first
Kato getting well beaten
Savannah just taken a tight first set.
