Week 7 - ITF($10k) - The Wirral, UK (Hard)

The last of the three domestic tournaments starts on the Wirral peninsula tomorrow(actually in Bidston) where qualifying takes place.

Harriet, Katie Swan, Fran, Laura D and Emily Arbuthnot should be in the main draw.

Jazzamay Drew has a wildcard, but the other three are not showing as allocated yet. Question marks remain if Katie B and Maia will accept their final main draw wildcard or turn up in qualifying. Otherwise the likes of Beth Askew, Jodie B, Ema Lazic, Georgie Axon, Megan Davies and Eden Richardson will be under consideration.

The field is the weakest of the three weeks and thus I'm expecting a large number of GB players in qualifying. There are quite a few locals that may get QWCs - Eden, Ellie-Rose, Lauren McMinn, Chloe Hughes

Qualifying draw with be available later this evening. I should be onsite Sunday,Monday,Tuesday and Saturday unless Shrewsbury becomes more enticing.

Council run centre - nice set up, but fairly basic in terms of facilities. Small canteen, but Tesco is next door. It's normally quite cold there and the courts are on the slow side.

 I would have thought the qualifying would have started today in other places like Surprise, AZ as it's a 64 strong draw, but nothing there either. Just seems like they're running behind.

 

UPDATE: Still no draw, but the live scores has the matches for tomorrow. 22 Brits I counted in total. No Jodie surprisingly, but there are only 14 matches.

Yes, ITF site still has no direct OoP fot the Wirral or Shrewsbury.

"Cannot show Order of Play.

There's a glitch on the ITF site for next week's tournaments - like Wirral, Perth is giving a

No drawsheet for the selected categoryX

error despite the qualifying draw having been up on the Australian tennis site for more than 10 hours.

Excellent spot Indy - 10.30 start for Wirral - 9.30 for Shrewsbury.....

Maia in qualifiers - no sign of Katie B, Beth, Lucy Brown, Ema or Jodie - so three of the five will have wildcards. Lucy has been injured, so the most likely to miss out.

I've not seen Georgie Axon, so that will be one i'm interested in watching and the Pitak sisters could be interesting.

No sign of Ellie-Rose Griffiths, but all the other local girls are playing.

Draw is up and two places not filled.....

Emillie Francati didn't sign in for qualifiers...

Sarah Wray is a new name, but she has a nasty draw.....
