I'm sure Naomi has a previous dedicated thread, but I cannae find it. So as she's apparently entered her prime, and the WTA top 100, (rising to CH95 next week), here is one...
This just to say that she's tweeted that she's on Radio 5 live at 1pm today.
Naomi had a singles CH 138 on 29.9.14 but then went through a sticky patch; her current run of form started at the Washington WTA International in early August when she won through 3 rounds of qualifying and won her R1 to be back inside the top 200 at 193; she followed that by landing the 25k title at, ahem, Landisville to rise to 170; on 21.9.15 she took out her CH by reaching the SFs at the Quebec International to be world #127; a week later she reached the final of the Alberquerque 75k to be new CH 122; next CH was 116 on 12.10.15 (rising 6 places after a week when she hadn't been playing!); she then reached the QFs of the Auckland International, including taking out world #16 Ivanovic in R1, to be new CH 112 on 11.1.16; and lastly she won the Midland 100k to be new CH 96.
Interviewing Fitzy on Sunday - any questions for him about Naomi?
There's only one question, obvs, in British tennis, and if everyone else is going to pretend not to know, or has forgotten, what it is...
First, congratulations to Naomi and Fitzy for getting her a MD DA, without using a wildcard. I think that her points total of around 685 since the cut-off is nearly guaranteed to see her in the main draw, if she takes the next 4 months off. But... the question...
I would think given her elevated status and expected improvement in the rankings, as a British player I can see Naomi getting a show court for sure regardless of who she plays.
Questions for interview
1, What lead to Fitzy joining Naomi/
2, What hopes did you have?
3, Are you ahead of where you expected to be?
4, What area's of her game have you focused on?
5, What future development have you planned?
6 Do you think regular top 50 is possible?
I would think given her elevated status and expected improvement in the rankings, as a British player I can see Naomi getting a show court for sure regardless of who she plays.
As things stand just now, and indeed with any gradual further improvement in the rankings, really excellent as Naomi has been, I actually extremely doubt that.
Lots of big names for few spots in R1, even if you throw in Court 2.
So Fitzy, in an either or ...

Are you limiting your questions to Naomi or can I ask one about Fitzy himself?
'Congratulations on your achievements as coach to Naomi. Your results since taking up the position are very impressive. Just wondering if you have any specific plans for your own development as a coach whilst working in your current role?'
Do we know what Naomi's plans are in the short term with tournaments?
She's down for qualies in Doha w/c 21st Feb, and then MD in Kuala Lumpur, the week after that w/c 29th Feb.
And then I presume it will be Indian Wells qualifying, then there's one of those WTA 125K's in USA in the second week of Indian Wells, then Miami qualifying and then the week after Miami there is an indoor tournament in Katowice which I'm sure she will be targeting. Then clay!
