I hope Harriet can pick up, her game to me just looked a bit flat just now. Well done all the winners.
Katie S match a bit tight for a player most seem to consider already a top 300 player and more. But her opponent had already been mentioned as pretty capable and beat Manisha very clearly yesterday, plus slightly worrying about her possibly carrying an injury. Though can't and don't expect Katie S to perform to script every match, more particularly at her age still.
We've currently got the 4 quarters covered, great if we were still in most of them after tomorrow.

Also sorry that Harriet didn't get a draw which would have helped her get a win or two. She's definitely stagnated recently and could probably do with a bit of a confidence boost. Is she still at Goslings? She does chop and change her training/coaching base quite a bit. Not sure if that's to give her a lift when she gets a bit stuck or whether the frequent changes cause her to lose her way in the first place.
Katie did well to refocus there. She isn't fully fit and has a problem with her left leg. In the game 0-40 down she hit a ball definitely out but the other girl stopped and Katie won the next 4 points to hold, and that was the turning point. Deserved to win but a bit flat, needs to move her feet more on the forehand return!
A shame to hear that Katie has an injury, hopefully fairly minor otherwise she probably shouldn't be playing this event. Not that surprising as I'm sure she pushed herself really hard at Fed Cup.
She was on the entry list of the $50k in Switzerland next week and was likely to get into qualifying until she withdrew. Maybe as a precaution if she is carrying an injury.
I spoke to her after regarding this and she said its just tightness, thankfully.

Thanks for the inside scoop Jaffa! Any other tidbits from Katie or the other girls???

I believe so - there were pictures of her hitting with Dan Cox over the Christmas period
Right am home now, didn't see as much as yesterday as I became more immersed in the matches but:
Saw the second set of Katie Boulter. Absolutely sparkling performance, served well, moved in well behind the forehand and even her sometimes shaky backhand looked solid. At 5-4 serving for it she went 0-30 down and looked up at the balcony and was begging herself to focus 'for four more points', and she got to 40-30. Then, they played the rally of the match - it must have been 20 or 30 shots and the opponent got a lovely let cord to get to deuce. She didn't apologise which angered Katie a bit, and on the deuce point she framed a volley literally to the other side of the court to where she was aiming. She didn't apologise either so the handshake was quite swift afterwards!
Katie Swan - I think philwrig would agree with me here that Katie was well in control of this match until she served for it, which was when she started feeling her left leg between points. That said, the Swiss girl started playing her best tennis of the match. Katie didn't get a first serve in when she served for it though and had to dig herself out of a hole to get to a tiebreak which in truth the Swiss girl definitely deserved to win. In the third set Katie got the early break and didn't take her foot off the gas and served it out to love, and deservedly so. You can see why everyone thinks so highly of her it has to be said, her serve and forehand are great weapons although as I have said earlier she doesn't move her feet properly to run round her backhand which will come with time. Her and Katie Boulter are joined at the hip and have a great friendship. I felt sorry for the poor uni students who were there as they were waiting to interview Katie S and her coach pulled her away (which tbf was understandable because if they wanted to work on her leg they needed to do it while she was still warm).
Saw a bit of Emily Appleton, that was a very *ahem* loud affair, but could have gone either way before I had to come away. Didn't see much of Maia v Harriet but I noticed there was a lot of long games, and every time I seemed to look across Maia was winning the points.
No more inside scoops I'm afraid! Although I talked to Katy Dunne and her mother, what a lovely pair they are, a right crack! She held the door open for a while at the bottom of the stairs and she said to me 'see I'm not too big time to be polite' with a massive grin on her face, I replied 'Who are you like?' which she found hilarious!
Do hope she's OK. It's one of the risks of Manisha's style of play - battling out those horribly long rallies will take a toll on the body. It's all part of her tennis profile.
Hope a bit of Spanish sun and relaxation gets her back in shape, she's had a lot of problems with injury.
5 through out of a possible maximum of 7 is not at all bad. Of those through, I thought Maia probably got the best result, which is no big surprise to me. Harriet should not be too worried. I have a hunch that Maia is going a long way; and coming here after her first ITF final, a British Tour win, and seeing her most frequent Junior dubs partner, Ingrid Neel, give NaomiB+ a good thrashing at the weekend, and ascend into the WTA top 200 doubles... She's on a roll.
Also, it isn't all about winning. Cav's bang-on, here...
Also, for many of our losers-to-date, it really is all about taking part; because they cannot hope to regularly travel abroad and compete, at least not without a chaperone/parent, which is going to cost their families, what? £1,000 per week? This sort of tournament is invaluable experience, just about unavailable any other how, and an important part of Ms Konta's "process".
Odd: none our surviving singles players entered the doubles.
Further to the possible injury, Manisha is currently playing her doubles, paulisi, so fortunately it doesn't look as though there's any major injury scare. Which is good news.
