RE: Week 6 - ITF ($10K) - Sunderland, UK Hard

Nice turnaround at the death from Harriet & Manon to join Emil[y/ie] variations in the final; which guarantees us a winner

SF: Dart/Arcangioli (GBR/FRA) [1] defeated Partaud/Sarrazin (FRA/FRA) [4] 4-6 6-4 [10-5]
SF: Askew/Foster (GBR/GBR) lost to Arbuthnott/Francati (GBR/DEN) 4-6 6-2 [5-10]

F: Dart/Arcangioli (GBR/FRA) [1] vs. Arbuthnott/Francati (GBR/DEN)

Not at all surprised by Maia, as my opinion of her is sky-high.

Silly girl if she's completely dropped Juniors. If she played Roland Garros Juniors, she would have a half-decent chance of winning it; which would be worth a good 10,000% more to her in sponsorship deals, etc, than the prize money for the winner of this title. She'd do well to ensure she has sufficient Junior points remaining to make the starting line.

Her running points total is now up to 19 = WR800ish, with nothing to defend until November. She could end the week as our top Scotswoman (I think), and overtaking Gabi as KS's nearest Junior pursuer.

Clearly she's not another Serena/Kvitova/Pliskova/Robson/Broady/Swan; more your Hingis/Henin/Radwanska/Li Na/Watson/Kasatkina type; which is fine by me.

Good to see KatyD getting back in the groove too.

With the top half of the draw being all about Katy & Katies let's hope it's not a different Kat who eventually comes through.

I see bookies have Maia slight favourite to win her semi final.

Katy is also a slight favourite. Play due to start in both semi finals shortly.

First few games went to serve and then Maia got broke twice. Manon served for the set and got broke.
Maia holds for 6-5

After four breaks of serve, we're now into a tie-break.

Allez, Maia

Maia takes the tie break comfortably, but both players are struggling to get a first serve in.

Maia has a break and then an immediate injury break called.

For Manon, presumably. Strategic or real?

Manon won 3 on the bounce after, but Maia is renowned for lapses in concentration and losing several on the trot. She did it in the first set as well.
