Maia doesn't take career best ranking scalps by halves does she - that's the third time in a row she's taken a career best ranking scalp in straight sets with one of the sets being a bagel!

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Happily, Maia stopped quite a rare occurrence.
Has she not won, the top 4 seeds would have made the SF. As it is, only three got through because of our spoiler

Good stuff, she's on a roll.
And she could take a further two CH ranking scalps before the week is out. Faces (2) Manon Arcangioli WR 352 in the SF and of course could face (1) Katy D WR 329 in the final.
And while jumping ahead, if Maia won the title this week, she would be up to 26 points, level with Gabi Taylor who on these points is currently WR 700, GB #13.

I remember that last year several people pondered about Maia (re the top 10 predictions) but - as with the others - wondered how much adult and junior tennis she was going to play, what split she'd go for.
She's not down for any of the junior events that I can see and, unlike Ema, is not in the LTA camp so doesn't have her schedule made up for her (and is also almost a year older, being Jan. and Ema being Dec.).
So there's a good chance that she is going 100% (or almost) for adult tennis. Rather like Freya last year, keeping her toe in the water of juniors, for Wimbly etc., but not much more.
It's been a brilliant start to the year. And with such a good team, and family, around her, it's exciting times.
