If there was a danger of Katie S overdoing it with an injury niggle then she shouldn't have been playing rather than be 'reprieved' by being knocked out. Trust it's nothing much as she indicated herself yesterday.
Otherwise, I agree with much that's been said as I think all seem to No worries generally. Onward ..
Totally understandable loss for Katie S, having watched her yesterday. Today was a stepup and her opponent has quality having taken care of one of our top juniors comfortably yesterday, and only being beaten by the eventual winner last week. When Katie's schedule was put together they would have assumed that the Fed Cup experience would have just been a training week, of course instead it turned into one of the best weeks of her tennis life. Hopefully with a few days rest she can reenergise herself for next week. Katie's team will have set targets ranking wise for this year, but at the same time they're not going to push it too hard, as Katie hopefully has a long and very succesful tennis career in front of her.
Yes. Wise words from someone who was there. And, like Indy, I would hope/presume that Katie Swan was not injured or else why would she be playing? Although even a little 'tightness' can tip the balance, it's true.
And you've got to have a faint liking for a player from Liechtenstein !
Though from the R2 line-up ( indeed originally from R1 ) I thought we would get more than two through to the QF.
We had some 'underranked' girls, more so than in qualifying and in the men's R1 ( OK, we had no 'underranked' girls in the men's R1 but you know what I mean )
So to that extent I'm just a little disappointed, but still well done to Katy and Maia.

...where she can win herself much bigger opportunities than were available here, or next week in Wirral. These are just training weeks.
I presume she's saving her Junior Exempt Wildcards until after her 17th birthday on 24;3;16, so any results from them will count towards her ranking on her 18th birthday, when she can play a full adult schedule.
Only in the event of some minor catastrophe should she have to play any more 10ks after turning 17; she's restricted to playing a maximum of 16 tournaments, so she doesn't get far by grinding along and picking up a maximum of a dozen points per tournament. I am quite relieved, and pleased for her, that she lost today.
