Lloyd wraps it up very nicely. And thankfully, for British involvement (although, allez, Richard - keep going ! And, Lukey, you never know - hope you're feeling fresh - the Pole doesn't look any amazing great shakes (from what one can tell....)
Lots of us have Lloyd in our top 10 for 2016. Which is going to look lovely come July and the last of the 'free' months go on. And will probably look a bit more dodgy come December, with the big number of points to defend from last autumn. But that's the gamble we took
Either way, he's been an extremely welcome addition to British tennis since his graduation and thanks to the US system for setting him well on the path !
Just home, not as much to report as yesterday on this side obviously but Evan v Teixeria was marred a bit by some poor line calling (unfortunately), there was a bad one in Teixeira's favour very early on when Evan had the initiative, but to be fair Teixeira was absolutely superb and I'd be surprised if he doesn't win the whole thing. In terms of Evan, he played well again, but today I was sat right behind his serve and it was actually fairly easy to read which meant he wasn't getting the free points like he was yesterday. His backhand could do with some improvement too.
I notice my pick from yesterday, Sarmiento is thrashing the 6th seed.
Seriously, well done on four very good matches, Luke - a far better week than I expect you imagined. And, as to the last one, well, at least you didn't waste too much unnecessary effort !
Well at least we have two through to the QF when seeded to have none and Richard puts us 2-1 up over the peskies in ranking 'shocks' in the MD. Would be nice to have done a bit better at 'home', but not so bad.
Good to see Richard get at least 2 points this week to make a net gain. He has got at least a point in more tournaments than any British male so from a rankings point of view he didn't need another spare one pointer.
