Huge win for Luke Oakley - I'm not sure many saw that coming

Dan goes down 6-1 n the 3rd.

On a brighter note, JWH is now a break up in the 2nd having already won the 1st.

Yeah, right ! He's already grumbling enough (although I'm afraid that Dan Smethust's loss will have cheered him up cry  )

It's Luke's first 'kosher' point (as the other one was from a walkover win) so mega congrats to him.

I've actually only seen him play once, and not for very long, but someone who's opinion I value - as someone who judges the tennis potential in its own right and not based on rankings or victories - gave me a heads up about him 9 months ago and I've been watching from afar since then.

PS Bob, any news as to what Joel is up to ? (He comes to mind as he beat Luke a couple of times).

PPS In the GB-Italian head to head, do hope Gabb can tip the scales in our favour.

PPPS Have only just noticed what a huge influx of Swedes there are ..... 7 in total?

Quick update as I know scores are temperamental:

JWH lost second set breaker, he should be off court by now

Sap well is getting stuffed by the American who will be ranked a lot higher soon

Smethurst went awry start of 3rd and never recovered

Impressed by Evan who served HUGE v Jay

Ryan Storrie played well but the top seed will take some beating this week

Didn't see much of Luke Oakley but what I did see was impressive although I hate to say his opponent didn't look right

Cheers for the, Jaffa - all first hand stuff gratefully received.

Josh WH is SUCH a frustrating player to support - the amount of matches where he should have had it wrapped up and dusted but, no, on it goes and downhill it goes..... maybe,, just maybe, he'll turn it round?

Glad to hear Evan sounds fit. And Ryan played well. And that Luke looked good, even if the other guy wasn't fully fit maybe.

Oh dear. Last I looked, Toby was a break up and JWH was a set and a break up.

Now Toby is back at *5-5 and JWH is a double break down in the decider. And just to add to the "fun" Luke B has lost the 1st set breaker to Sam Barry by 13-11.

Need some good news guys. Vamos.

Bambo had loads of set points but to be fair Barry played them all very well.

JWH head has gone

Toby in a real battle but must admit you just get the feeling the Iti is going to get the better of it

From the entry lists, Joel is down to play Portugal in a couple of weeks in Vale do Lobo.   There is a 3 week block in the south of Portugal which is where I met him last year.  He was over with Beechy.  I am wondering if they will both be back for that block this year.  I remember Beechy being very impressed with the set up and saying to me "I would definitely come back here".

Also considering another visit myself.  It's about time Bob in Portugal showed his head above the parapet again.

Josh WH loses the third set, 1-6, with jaffa's apt epitaph hanging over him........ :(

Add: cheers for the update, Bob - glad all sounds well in Joel's world. Portugal sounds fun smile

Thanks Jaffa.  Keep those reports coming.

Ditto what CD said about how frustrating it is supporting JWH.
