Hoping for better luck in the doubles - although perhaps playing both events is a bit energy sapping

Not really relevant to the thread, but out of interest are there any Futures events in the south-west? I'm Swindon/Bristol-based but there never seem to be any futures events down this area of the country.

Hi TMH

You can find a full list (unless it is added to later) of all the UK events, through this link to the LTA website.

On the men's side, your best bet would be Barnstaple, although you have got a bit of a wait as it takes place in mid-November.  There are only 6 Men's Futures in the UK all year, which has been a point of much discussion on the GB Entries and Rankings section.  There is a thread entitled GB 2016 Calendar.

Barry has now knocked out three of the four highest-ranked Brits here

You are a bit unlucky as they normally have a joint event at Bath, but it seems to have been dropped.

Whilst I think it is exciting times for British tennis at the moment Edmund and Evo looking top 100 stuff, I am bit alarmed by what is coming through.  We don't really  have any 18-23 in the top 500 apart from edmund, broady and loyd.

I really think you need to be top 400 as a bare minimum by the age of 22-23 if you are considering a tennis career.

Have a look at the British Tour calendar too - it's not quite the same, of course, but you get some very good tennis, there's obviously a huge number of GB players there, and there's some interesting youngsters, those coming back from injuries, and even top GB players, especially in the richer Tour events.

I think you've missed Bath and I'm geographically challenged - Wrexham isn't that close, is it? But Taunton must be pretty near.

Yes, I was thinking that Bath was a normal venue during the year. Another one dropped in the downsizing

Indeed. Also ( as I may have mentioned ) no teenagers in the top 1000 and a current grand total of 5 ranking points from our juniors

It's good at the top with Kyle and Evo's progress, and I look forward to following the progress of our top half dozen or so and indeed others. But the numbers are really not there in the younger guys, basically since the Evo+ year of 1990 born, with an interjection of the 1995 borns - Kyle, Luke, Evan, Cameron.

Hopefully we will have quite  a number of late bloomers or I have visions of the top 25 table telling a not so good story in a few years.

Men's team Soto did serve for the set, but have been broken twice in a row and lose the first set 7-5

Cheers guys, great help.

That's a shame about Bath. Didn't realise there had been such substantial cuts!
