Maybe it has changed this year, but previously they had to be playing on the same day qualifying starts. No allowance is made for travelling to sign-in, as this can be done remotely by the tournament supervisor.

I think you are probably correct - not that it matters as both girls will get a MD wildcard.  The key phrase is:

"A player still competing at a Qualified Tournament at the time of the
Qualifying Sign-in deadline can request a Special Exempt place"

So this could apply to matches played later in the day(foreign tournaments do it fairly frequently)

On the other hand, if they are on the qualifying list and still competing on the day, they can sign in by phone. Katie is not on the qualifying list.

I presume Katie will get a WC into the main draw anyway.   Even if she wins this and gets 12 points they won't help her until the week after next.

Katie is on the list, but all the way down at the bottom.

Great job by Maia and Katie.

Fiona G is definitely very playable, as said before, but that's a comprehensive scoreline, expected it to be closer.

And just brilliant to see Katie B. back again. Such talent, that girl.

The acceptance lists are out up to and including wb 22/02 and she still won't be ranked when the acceptance lists for wb 29/02 come out next week.

If she wins the title this week and thus is ranked with 12 points on 15/02, that will first count for acceptance lists for the wb 07/03. Essentially, for 10Ks and 25Ks there are 4 weeks between winning a title and the tournament start it will help towards.
