RE: Week 5 - ITF ($10K) - Glasgow, UK Hard

Well, so far, I've been a bit annoyed to see so many all-Brit singles matches; Now changed my mind and looking forward to the next one.

and bagels her opponent

The rule on SE is interesting as I thought Maia and Katie B might be an option

A player still competing at a Qualified Tournament at the time of the
Qualifying Sign-in deadline can request a Special Exempt place (as above)
however she must notify the ITF Supervisor of the result of her match no
later than one (1) hour following the completion of the match. If, after the
completion of the match, the player is not be eligible for the Special Exempt,
the Special Exempt place will be filled either by another player who applied
for Special Exempt status or in accordance with section V.I.
Vacancies/Substitutions below.

As singles Qualifying starts on the 8th February, sign in will be Sunday evening.

The final is scheduled for Sunday, so it is unlikely that any SE's will be granted from Glasgow unless the tournament officials deem there is insufficient time to get to sign in from the end of the match.

As the Glasgow final is on 7th Feb and Sunderland qualifying starts on 8th Feb, there will be no SEs granted (unless of course the Glasgow final is delayed).

Great win for Maia and a qualifier the likely the opponent in the semi final (she was a reasonable junior though)

Depends on when the women's final finishes and if there is sufficient time to get to Sunderland for 6pm(sign in) - Google maps says 3hrs by car or rail.

Maybe it has changed this year, but previously they had to be playing on the same day qualifying starts. No allowance is made for travelling to sign-in, as this can be done remotely by the tournament supervisor.

No it hasn't changed.  Still have to be scheduled to play in the previous week's tournament on the day qualifying of the next week's tournament is due to start.

Doesn't Katie have to at least be on the qualifying acceptance list? She's currently Alt72, with no chance of making the cut for Qs.
