Week 5 - ITF ($100K) - Midland, USA Hard

Great win for Broads! Does she have any points to defend this week?

Nothing this week. 18 points next week and as things stand another 18 points in April and nothing else at all before June ( and she has reserves for the 18 pointers ). So looking very good for top 100 soon.

Steven has just recently updated the women's 16 counters  :  http://www.britishtennis.net/stats/ptdf.htm?n=1

Top man

No but her lowest counter is 15 so any points earned she would have to take that off.

From watching the match. Naomi was playing well. Lots of great winners from the baseline and some good volleys.

No points added yet. Another win would probably do it. Needs a title to make top 100.

I've not looked at others' potential ups and downs. But as wolf points out Naomi's lowest current counter is 15 points so her 13 points for reaching R2 doesn't count. 25 points for reaching the QF would though.

Yes, live rankings have changed their tune since I looked yesterday; hey ho, R2 should be an easier trot on paper...

Very nice win - another would move her up a bit smile

Just to point out, that Naomi is no longer entitled to the Tournament Bonus Scheme - 2015 was her last year of eligibility (at least she must got some claims in then though).

It covers up to the end of the year in which the player turns 25 (for the 25ks and above).

Given the rules and restrictions I doubt if anybody made any money out of it. Somebody did post a thread last year showing the vast fortunes that could be made from the scheme. It seemed like PR. wink

Well, Naomi must have made a fair bit from it last year.

Eye-balling it, it must have been £6k or so.

Other approximates are: Mandy clocked up £1k, Tara £850, Katy Dunne (if not funded) £1.7k, Harriet too (if not funded) got some

Certainly not life-changing, but worth applying for, I'd assume.

Considering the generous prize money I'd  go for it as well, not exactly life-changing though, is it wink

Doubles now.

As Naomi's singles tomorrow has no USA interest, it has been banished to the outer court, and therefore won't be streamed.

Pera quite good, everyone else average at best means the first set went, pretty sloppily, 4-6

Much more serious business from Shelby & Naomi in set 2, which they duly took.
MTB lottery time.
4-6 6-3

*4-2 at the change.
7-5* at the second change. Naomi carrying the MTB almost single handed
*9-8... and Naomi serves it closed.

A win's a win. They seemed to only try as hard as they thought was necessary, and almost got caught out, but had enough in the second, and just about in the MTB. Shelby was not good, she owes Naomi one.

GSM Broady/Rogers 4-6 6-3 [10-8]
