Does anybody know what Naomi's new ranking will be?

I expect to sleep soundly tonight, knowing I never have to watch another Ieuter Insurance ad again.

Big congratulations to Bellis/Neel, grasped their opportunity and never let go.

F: Broady/Rogers (GBR/USA) [2] lost to (WC) Bellis/Neel (USA/USA) 2-6 4-6

But, still, for Naomi Broady!

Pity couldn't do the double.

But as well as her new singles CH in the top 100, Naomi will take out her doubles CH (currently 128) with her new ranking probably in the top 120.

Not a bad week's work

Fantastic for Naomi to win the title and break the top 100 - she was always going to achieve it this year, but with it being such a career benchmark it's great that she has achieved it so early in the year. Also she has few points to defend so will be guaranteed a bit of time to get used to it and adjust her scheduling to account for the tournament opportunities it opens up.

I had to go out after the first set, and after such a close battle I was equally surprised and pleased to see how dominant Naomi was for the rest of the match.

Missed her play tonight - but watched her yesterday. Apart from the power, she has a great range of shots. If the serve is even half decent she could trouble a lot of top players. Very good week clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif.

Brilliant Naomi
Watching her in 2012 in Shrewsbury, lose to Dolonc in abject fashion, I'll humbly admit, my faith and belief disappeared that day, and I'd never have reckoned that this would ever happen.

I am delighted to eat a massive serving of the humblest of pies, and say I was completely and utterly wrong.
Not only has Naomi achieved this milestone, she's done so on her own terms and through her own application and hard graft.
Well well done, and I will not doubt again.

Delighted for Naomi. It's been quite a journey.

Official WTA rankings have been updated to include this result, and show Naomi at CH WR96, up to CH WR115 in doubles, and WR22 in the Race.

On this form, she's going to cause some carnage. Roll on the grass.

Fantastic to see Naomi make the top 100 with the biggest title of her career - who'd have thought a decade ago that ten years later, we'd have had 8 women in the WTA singles top 100!

Yes it's been quite a golden period relatively speaking; with a bit of luck (especially on the injury front) we'll keep 3 in the WTA top 100 for a while now and, who knows, accumulate some more too...Laura, Katie S, Freya spring to mind...over the next year or so. Here's hoping smile

Yes.

I saw her play the most feeble match against Gabi Taylor last June (i.e. VERY recently!) - Gabi played well, give her her due, but Naomi was pretty dire (well, very dire at times, and just about passable at others) and scraped through, rather luckily. It was NOT good.

But I put that down to pre-Fitzy.

But, like you, AliB, it's good to admit when one's got it wrong - roll on, Naomi !!!!
