RE: Week 5 - Challenger ($100,000) - RBC Tennis Championships of Dallas, Tx (hard)

Kyle won the first set 7-6(4). No break points in the whole set and 2 mini breaks in the TB. Court very quick.

It will be interesting to see how the fast court effects the outcome. I would have thought it would have worked against Evo in the last round against an opponent hitting a heavy ball. Kyle at his best on clay but when on form in Hawaii had too much for the rest of the field regardless. Nice start for Kedders, onwards and upwards.

Dan is second up on Court 1 after a doubles match with play starting at 10.30 local.  I think this will be around 5.30gmt, so we'll need to skive off work early. Kyle is 3rd on centre.

Good luck guys!

Good win from Kyle after his long flight from Hawaii.

I also note that despite the fast courts, big serving Sam Groth who was Nº1 seed, was roundly thrashed by American wonder kid Frances Tiafoe 3&3

Well, I watched a fair bit of James McGee's match yesterday (and have seen him live) and though I wish him well and think he's done amazingly well, given the practically non-existent support his (admittedly) very small federation has given him, the man's movement, consistency and 'head' leave a lot to be desired.

Kyle 'should' have no problem.

Consistency I agree with, movement and 'head' I would disagree with. Remember when he qualified for the US Open with all that cramp? The man has a heart of a lion.

Never questioned the heart !!!

Not the same as the head, in my view. The heart is about fight, the head is about playing clever tennis, at the right moments.

And his movement is not good, in my view - which is why his consistency is not great - he's often slightly out of position.

Main draw is out

Kyle has entered and is top seed - drawn a wildcard
Dan has drawn Rublev

Top seed?  confuse  That appears to be Sam Groth...

And Groth went out overnight, beaten by 3 & 3 by Tiafoe, the spelling of whose Christian name continues to baffle me, so Kyle is now effectively the top seed! wink

Re: James McGee, I watched the last set of his match against Meister. Quite frankly his effort was not at the level expected once he went a break down. He just handed his opponent the match and couldn't get off court quick enough.
