JoKo v2.0

Johanna has changed, over the last year. JoKo 2.0...

From losing 6-0, 6-1 in the FedCup play-offs a year ago, incapacitated by nerves, to the ice-maiden of Melbourne, what happened?

I'm sure her recent exploits are a huge inspiration to all players, of whatever nationality, or sex, on the ITF circuit. "I coulda bin a Kontanda..."

So what happened? Can other players replicate this success? How?

Naomi Cav's take is here...

I don't fully concur with Naomi; though her opinion is worth more than mine. Anyways, Johanna will now become a role-model for aspiring British tennis players; and I would suggest that she may prove to be a more effective role model than Andy Murray could ever be. His success seems to me to be based as much on innate natural talent, as anything else. That can't be taught, or learned.

OTOH, Johanna could, I hope, prove to be a real inspirational role model. Though I am a bit worried that, according to Kipling, her ability to meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two impostors just the same may bring about some sort of weird spontaneous sex-change in her, and I'm not too sure how she would fare on the ATP tour...
