RE: Week 4 - ITF ($50K) - Maui, Hawaii, USA - Hard

Naomi's been living dangerously; but justifies her seeding :D
Could do with starting more promptly in the SF though...

Naomi should really have cruised through the final set, but got sloppy at the wrong times.

Cako has an interesting game. Superb hands at the net and could be a doubles specialist, but her back court play is erratic and her serve lacks power.
Naomi seemed to favour her backhand today, possibly due to the number of errors on her forehand yesterday.
Naomi rather inconsistent today and will need to find a higher level tomorrow.

Golubic is another serve and volleyer whom Naomi struggled against when they played last year

Not a particularly impressive result against WR453 but pleased to see Naomi get the win and it will be a completely different match against McHale, though about as tough an opponent as you will get in a 50k.

Interesting to watch some serve and volley for a change. Cako volleyed well most of the time. I thought Naomi's return was reasonably good for her. Trying to win 2nd serve points was a struggle, especially in that 3rd set.

Saw a little of Taylor the other day. She is not your normal shape and size for a tennis player, but I understand has always been like that and hasn't stopped her from breaking into top 100.

Naomi lost the doubles 12-10 in the MTB

Naomi playing very solid and takes advantage of a service game where the first serve went missing.

I've not seen anything from McHale that will worry Naomi.

Nice all round set from Naomi that.

Very solid set - very little to choice in general between WR 50 and 120 and I expect Naomi to move seamlessly into the top 100

the difference between <100 and >100 is consistency and that's something she clearly still lacks - there's no doubt she has the weapons to be in the top 100
