Kyle in a bad mood, looks totally fed up and playing some dreadful tennis. Very poor body language and looks totally disinterested. Now one set all against a poor opponent who he should be beating easily.
He really needs to stop making such a drama when he either doesn't like the conditions or is irritated that his level isn't great. It just becomes a catch 22 and his standard drops even more.
Just lost his serve after having a break point in the previous game after yet more atrocious play. This is one of the worst performances I've ever seen from him and really quite embarrassing.

I would say it's better than the couple of USA Challengers he played after the US Open.
He was almost weirdly lethargic looking in the Sacramento Challenger defeat to Darian King. Indeed some of us wondered re his health.
Played some very good stuff at times since, but this is again a bit of a lethargic looking display. I accept the wind isn't helping the quality, but it's not responsible for poor movement.

Pathetic loss by Kyle Edmund who had countless break point chances and managed to lose to a player playing poorly. This match looked like two players outside of the top 1000. The quality overall was desperate and Kyles attitude throughout was poor. Theres no excuses for this performance unless he was ill. These performances crop up far too often and certainly he won't be going far up the rankings if he keeps throwing in such abject displays.

You're very dramatic!
Disappointing loss, but it continues a good start to the year overall. I found Wu to look good at times; quick, good at the net, quite interesting. Kyle should have won, no doubt.
Yep Beefy I agree, very difficult conditions into the wind at 4-4, psychologically easier to serve uphill to win the tournament than to stay in it. Almost inevitable he was going to loose the third when he found himself I that position playing an opponent who was much closer to his best and on form following winning through Aussie qualifying.
Some good lessons to learn, he definitely played too quickly, needed to slow down acknowledge the situation, tactically adjust have a game plan and play the moment. Kyle in a different league to Wu re weapons, on a different day with all guns firing we would have seen the match on would expect ie the more mobile Wu trying to chase down Kyles howitzers and failing.
Mike C not at al impressed with Kyle compared to the rest of the week " this will be his best challenger win if he can win playing like this" and he missed at leat 10 gimme forehands with Wu stranded. To come so close yet for him play so badly emphasises how much he has improved but plenty of work to do, looked very much like a man with a plane or who knows some surf to catch!
Disappointing, I agree but there were some heroics last night as I sustained a very nasty nasal bridge injury and sweaty ears falling asleep on my side with my glasses and headphones on watching the iPad. Perhaps one of the nastiest injuries sustained by a tennis.net user in the Btish tennis cause.

I can't comment on last night's performance as I didn't see it, other than to say it is disappointing that he lost. I do remember a couple of performances similar to the descriptions above, in the US Challengers towards the back end of last year. There seemed to be no explanation for it, but it later came out the Kyle was dealing with some difficult off court issues at that time.
Kyle is a very dedicated and disciplined young man and I find it very hard to believe that he would simply "lose interest" in a match unless there was a very good reason. There have been a couple of comments on Twitter about injury but I doubt those people actually have any inside knowledge and are basing their comments on performance rather than information.
Regardless of this loss, I still have every confidence that Kyle will continue his steady rise up the rankings during the course of the year.
