Strange - they both played qualifiers. I assume their ranking wasn't high enough to make the draw.

I wondered that myself, so I checked:  their CR is 493 (245+248), so considerably better than Jung & Novikov, for example.  hmm

Novikov singles ranking 153, Jung 221 - will get in ahead using the higher of singles or doubles.

Last direct entry was 472, so they just missed out on rankings.

If they want to play at this level they need to get that ranking down to around 200 each. Memphis will help if they can find a win..

Kyle off to a great start:  breaks Mmoh to 40 in the opening game, only to be broken himself to 30, then breaks Mmoh again to 40:  3-1*.  Topsy turvey to say the least!

The commentator on these USTA tournaments (Mike C) seems to have a good relationship with a lot of the players.  And he has just revealed two things about Marcus W:

1. He's expecting to be be back playing around May/June time
2. He's at the tournament as a coach for on of the players in the women's tournament. No mention of who though.

Against a pretty damn promising youngster too. No holds barred. Love it.
