Unfortunately, Ed's disappointing start to the season continues as he falls 6-4 7-5 to Gonzalez Austin. His place in the Top 500 is now in serious jeopardy over the next few weeks.
I can understand Joe giving challenger singles and doubles a go, especially in the run up to ATP 250 Memphis in Week 6 where he has earned a doubles MD WC with David O'Hare.
But Challenger singles qualifying is always likely to prove a pretty tough gig at this stage in his development.
Be interesting to see how he schedules his year post Memphis assuming for now he still wishes to progress in singles and move up these rankings.
