I'm not quite sure how the French made it to the semis but they did beat three seeded pairs including the defending champions and the top seeds.
Bruno was excellent today, I think he's an excellent choice of partner. He's such a steady influence compared to the sometimes erratic John Peers. In hindsight the decision Jamie made to move change partner was an excellent one it seems.
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience
A very solid performance and some stunning reactions from Bruno (aka the wall) admittedly against a scratch pair that looked like a scratch pair. Jamie's consistency ie frequent GS final appearances Davis cup win with kid brother beginning to verify his status as an elite doubles performer. One has to respect what was a brave decision to split with John in his aspiration to win championships. Very excited by this pairing who hopefully will go on to become consistent GS winners i.e. World class.
Looking forward to the final (3 set tennis does that make the Aussie doubles a grand slam lite, I feel a compromise would be a two set lead and you win if not you go on to best of 5)
(7) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 29 (7+22) vs Daniel Nestor & Radek Stepanek (CAN/CZE) CR 101 (19+82)
A lot of experience and craft in that opposition whatever their ranking and non seeding. But still Jamie & Bruno have a great opportunity. All the best!
( Jamie now passes the Bryans to be provisional WR 4 and will go to WR 2 if he wins the title. Though for now that's really what it's all about - a Grand Slam title )
Some interesting quotes from Jamie in this Beeb report.
Nestor & Ugly Mug had a slightly more difficult time of it against the 16th seeds in their semi, winning by 7-6(11) 6-4 in an hour & 42 minutes, whereas Jamie & Bruno wrapped up theirs in only 56 minutes.
