Evans makes it back to back love service games though Gigi on radio 5 says it's cos Lopez seems to have let his level drop after winning so easily so far. Maybe Dan's just wanting too much to reverse yesterday's brit tends of starting well then loosing? :)
Sadly Lopez's first serve level hasn't dropped - he just served a perfect 4 ace service game. Dan has only taken 3 points off the first serve all match. 4-4.
Frustrating time for Lopez to get the break as it really looks like he was able to just do so at will. Shame for Dan not to get more out of the match whilst trying to sneak into DC with in front of his home crowd - though I'm thinking he just matches up badly against Lopez and could have looked a lot better against say Nishikori.
Quite a lot of forehand UEs for Dan judging from a glance at the live updates on ausopen.com...but who is left that could Dan have practiced with to get well drilled against the Lopez knifed backhands? Not many.
Every time I watch Bedene, I just wonder how he's managed to make the top 50. Seems implausible. He has zero power, isn't particularly consistent from the back of the court, doesn't serve well, doesn't defend that well, no weapons etc.
He's like a less powerful version of Jamie Baker

ok home, so write up time.
I watched Evans. It was quick and brutal. Lopez just out classed Evans. I tweeted at the time that Lopez's lefty serve just didn't seem to miss, and when Even did manage a couple of points Lopez found the corners.
Bedene was a totally different match. It felt like a nothing match, crowd subdued, and just two guys knocking about. If it wasn't for the umpire keeping score then it could of been anything happening out there. John nailed it above when he says Bedene isn't consistent but then that could be his weapon as he probably doesnt know what he is going to hit.
Johnson though was more clinical when it came to important points. A lot of serve volleys and then out wide serves, I don't think Bedene could really settle.
