Looks like Kyle has left the court again between sets. I know this is a Slam, but I almost want him to retire. It is too early in the season to be putting himself at risk of serious injury.
Strange game that. 4 BPs saved but then missed a sitter of a forehand from well inside the service line on the final deuce. Just one or two signs there that Kyle might be starting to move slightly better, but I still don't think it will be enough.
Last chance that, I think. BP on the Dzumher serve. He throw the kicker out wide and Kyle simply can't get enough racket on it, to get it back into play. Dzumher now 3-1* up
This match is done and dusted as Dzumer breaks again to love for *4-1. On the final point, Kyle put the serve in and just stood there watching the return. I have no idea if it is injury or cramp as GBJ suggested, but whatever it is, it has been the deciding factor in this match.
Well I didn't enjoy that one bit, I'm afraid. Dzumher cruises to a 6-1 in the 5th victory against a basically "one-legged" Kyle. Was it injury ? if so that is desperately unlucky as a fit Kyle would have won comfortably IMHO, given the way he dominated the 1st set. Or was it cramp ? in which case people will again be questioning Kyle's fitness, although the heat of the Aussie summer can affect even the toughest of competitors at times. I guess we will find out in due course as to the exact cause of the problem.
If I was to be critical at all, it was perhaps that Kyle lost focus a little bit in the early part of the 2nd set and ended up playing catch-up for most of it. Eventually he lost it on the TB. Was the "injury" already affecting him ? I don't know. But had he been able to find a stronger start to that set, we may have been sitting here celebrating a 3 set win.
His time will come though. I remain totally convinced of that.
