Very happy that they've put Johanna on first match. With the time difference I can cope with a 1am start here.
I think she has a very good chance of winning this and the big stadium shouldn't effect her, she's getting quite used to playing in front of big crowds.
The most important thing IMO for the next few months is to get her ranking safely into the top 30, she has a lot of ranking points to defend in the late summer, autumn and she needs a bit of protection by being seeded.
Indeed this Aussie Open gives her a great chance to get to the QF's. If she beats Allertova she will likely face Pliskova and although she's a very good player she's not someone who should scare her.
Of course with the draw opening up it can add more pressure because these opportunities don't come round every day, and her opponents will also be relishing this same chance.

Yes, great opportunity here for Jo. And with little to defend before French Open entry date such that a QF here practically guarantees a French Open seeding. As you say, with her points due to come off later in the year, the more she accumulates before the summer the better.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Makerova, with quite a lot of history of Grand Slam later stages over the last few years, comes through against Pliskova to be the potential L16 opponent.
Watch that it's a scheduled midnight GMT start to proceedings, even better for non insomniacs
Edit : Ah, duh, I take it that you are in France !

Allertova has heavy strapping on her left leg. The commentators are saying Allertova seems to be trying to play short rallies and are speculating the leg may be affecting her play.
