RE: Australian Open 2016 - Main Draw - Melbourne, Australia - Hard

Second serves at *5-4 were so tight. Now in trouble

Good luck Hev - hope you can come through.

Babos rolling now

Heather just didn't slam the door when she had the chance. Big ask now.

Looks absolutely deflated. Completely fell apart in the last two and a half games.

Heather's overhead has been pretty awful in her matches this year, and so it is again.
Things turned pretty quickly there, from being two points away to one set all.
If Heather can hang in, Timea's stamina my tell, she'll try to shorten points. The Hungarian can have hot streaks though.
Still, all to play for.
7-6(4) 5-7

Edit: did not like ending consecutive statements in 'though'

The game at 5*-4 was reasonable, in my view - it was just that the second serves were weak (and Babos dealt with them well).

The key point, to me, was at 30-30 when Hev had T on the run and didn't follow it in for a real easy putaway.

The following two games were not great.

But she'll fight. And Babos will miss some too.....

C'mon......

Classic pattern in this match is Hev goes up 0-30, fluffs a second serve return and loses the game.

Happened half a dozen times.

*1-2

Heading towards curtains. She looks the more tired of the two, footwork very flat now. Did well to save two break points then made a massive error on the third stopping to challenge a ball that was well on the line.

2-4*

One more big push Hev come on.

Two break points perfectly saved by Babos. Couldn't have done a thing. Gets a third and blasts a backhamd down the line

*3-4

Heather channels Bill Pullman:
"We will not go quietly into the night!
We will not vanish without a fight!
We're going to live on!"

Very tired game. Tank looks empty. Handed Babos the break.

3-5*

And then has a rush of manure to the head.

David Laws on R5 characterises Babos as 'swinging haymakers' which seems about right.
Crucially, none land, Hev breaks, and holds, finishing it off with an Ace.
So, back on serve.
Then Babos with a blinding game.
Hev must serve to stay alive again.
*5-6
