RE: Australian Open 2016 - Main Draw - Melbourne, Australia - Hard

Jo with better serving holds to 30, Angie's fantastic cross court winner therefore in vain.
Kerber (who, it should be said, is nothing like her level in the QF) serving to stay in the set.
5-4*

Holds to 15, including help from the net cord (given the MP against Zhang, Jo won't begrudge anyone that!)
*5-5

Set the first point up perfectly and just fluffed the final drive volley.
Then a DF.
Nice FH winner.
Rare UE on the BH, long. Break points Kerber.
First saved moving Angie side to side to break down the defence
Jo nets, Kerber breaks.
5-6*

This little rain delay probably benefits Jo

Just listening to this in bed with huge headphones and a tiny phone, more relaxing than perching infront of a screen for now. Come on Jo. You can turn this round.

Or not! Kerber holds easily.
5-7

Kerber is top 5 for lots of very good reasons, and just showed that quality at the end, everything tightened up, mixed up tactics with a first drop shot on the set point, quality competitor, and takes the set.

Jo very even in the match, and no need for despair she can easily win the second set.
Already very impressive on such an occasion how well Johanna has acquitted herself.

Bit sloppy first game in set 2, and Jo is broken straight away, as in the first. Kerber warming up.
5-7 0-1*

Jo challenges, not realising it's Asderaki-Moore in the chair, wo is never wrong.
And she's not again, she correctly identified that the bal was 0.5mm out.
She is amazing.

30-30* long rally which Jo wins to set up a BP.
Ace saves it! Deuce.
Jo consecutive UE, Kerber holds. Kerber prepared to stay in points and let Jo make the errors.
5-7 *0-2

Edit: serve indicator wrong

That was a good hold from Jo, from 15-30. Still fighting

Needs a good service game.
Not good serving, but good scrapping gets Jo to *40-30
Deep FH into the corner, Angie nets.
Good to settle the run of 4 games against with that game on the board
5-7 1-2*

That's game over I'm afraid. Shame Jo couldn't bring her best tennis to this match, but I'm sure she'll get future opportunities

Lots of errors coming now.
Angie recognises it, repeatedly ust keeping the ball safey in play down the center and waiting; passive but smart.
*15-40
Well constructed patient point, BH DTL winner *30-40
Jo outlasts Kerber, Deuce.
Jo BH long, ADV Kerber
Konta BH netted
5-7 1-4*

Will Angelique feel the tension?
Can Jo eliminate the rash of errors?
