Evo's loss is probably the more disappointing of the 2 based on ranking. Hopefully it can be attributed to nothing more than early season rust and being up against a qualifier with a few matches already in the bag.

Just took a quick look at the stats for Evo's match - they booth had similar first serve percentages and win rates behind second serve but Evo won only 54% behind first serve to hid opponent's 80% - Dan was winning more behind second serve at 61% - I always wonder how aware players are of things like that as if you are the obvious thing to do is to go for more on firstsserve with nothing to loose by doing so. You often see it for a set but rarely for a whole match. I guess it is likely to be a combination of his opponent's return strengths and maybe Dan being a bit loose on the second ball - maybe making a few errors when rushed - which I guess is just the kind of rustiness we hope is the only issue. Also I see from Britennis that's 8 straight wins for his opponent so playing better than 495 ranking u suspect. Just a shame not to get a win beforethe Aus Open. Still, given his form most of last year I'd be less surprised to see him qualify in Melbourne than loosing straight sets first round.
I don't know how long Dan has been in Aus but it took him a while to get going I the west coast last autumn particularly when you run into an inform local
QF: (PR) (4) Brydan Klein & Peter Polansky (CAN) CR 481 (193+288) vs Uladzimir Ignatik & Jan Satral (BLR/CZE) CR 529 (333+196)
If they reach the semi-final, there's no danger of their having to face the top seeds, Ball & Moser, as they were put out by Donati & Golubev in straight sets in the first round.
