As noted on this week's Entry thread, Harriet Dart is playing the event at Paddington this week - presumably for a bit of match practice after the injury she picked up out in the States.
Anna Popescu and Lily Ghodrati, fresh from their ITF forays in Europe, are both also playing.
Youngsters of particular interest (by my reckoning ) are Jizel M-S Fernandes (born 2001) who's qualified and made the quarters and Victoria Allen (2001) who's also in the quarters.
The two youngsters bowed out but the scores would suggest they put up an excellent fight. Eva is through to the semis as, for some reason, all the L16 matches were played today and just her QF.
The QFs are:
Beth v Anna Popescu
Mollie v Alice Gillan
Lucy v Morgan Cross
Eva Siska def. Hannah McColgan 6-4 6-3
A slightly surprising defeat for Beth today, against Alice. I know that Beth had a nasty-ish injury recently but it seems disingenuous to Alice to suggest that might be a factor,
QF:
Beth def Anna Popescu 6-1 3-6 6-2
Alice Gillan def. Mollie 1-6 6-2 6-3
Lucy def. Morgan Cross 6-3 6-2
Eva Siska def. Hannah McColgan 6-4 6-3
Nottingham are hosting one of the new Tier 2 Three-Day Tour events to coincide with latter stages of the ITF 10k. Which makes a lot of sense. (Lots of youngsters too, which is always good)
SFs:
Ceire Mullins (1997) v Lily Ghodrati (1999)
Esther Adeshina (2001) v Jizel M-S Fernandes (2001)
