At the Teir 1 in Edgbaston, the ranked players is the MD are Lucy Brown, Beth, Manisha, Savannah, Sabrina B and Eva Siska.

It seems that the Soto coach is playing in the men's section so Manisha and Beth and Laura Sainsbury and Frankie Wilkes (and maybe others?) will have some good technical support.

Yasmin Clarke is also playing as a WC, joining her two brothers.

Nor surprisingly, given recent form, Holly Hutchinson created the 'upset' today, defeating Lucy.
18 year-old Chloe Hughes defeated WTA-ranked Sabrina B.
Yasmin Clarke made it a three out of three day for the Clarkes.
Beth took a while to get going but won easily after losing the first set to Tamara Malazonia.
Other winners were: Ghodrati, Lauren Bishop, Eva Siska, Savannah, Ellie-Rose, Victoria Allen, Mollie, Laura S., Lauren McMinn, Manisha, Alice Thane and Kate Malazonia.

(Tamara and Kate Malazonia are 14 and 16 year-old sisters from Birmingham, at Edgbaston Priory)

Nice to see Chloe playing British tour. I had a long chat to her family at Shrewsbury and saw her again at Wirral. She was a very good junior at U14, didn't get funded and struggled. I see plenty of talent there, very powerful game, but lacking in consistency. I believe she plans to play a bit more on the pro circuit and no surprise she beat Sabrina. If she is fully fit and gets some rhythm in her game she will give a few of these girls a fright.

I noticed Beth Askew is showing as Beth Grey on the entry lists for April - error? married? etc

the Clarke family continue to bat three out of three, Yasmin winning in three.

Ellie-Rose defeated Savannah in a third-set TB.

Chloe also won. As did Manisha, Beth, Holly, Laura S and Eva Siska.

Sam Murray has appeared at Bolton. I'm sure everyone will agree with me wishing her all the very best!

That's really good news - in reality I thought she had packed it in.

In terms of Jade, she seems to be doing a lot of coaching. I assume she has packed the tour in due to injury?

In the QFs:

Sam Murray def. Ceire Mullins 6-2 7-5 (not wishing to be mean, Ceire, but it's nice to see Sam back )

Mollie def. Olivia Peet 6-4 6-3

Serena def. Popescu 6-3 7-5 (way to go, Serena!)

(q) Tamara Malazonia def. (q) Jessica Zeynel 6-1 6-4

Big shout to Tamara - she's only 14, born 2001. (Older sister, Katie, is promising too - see above).

Earlier in the draws, poor Helen P had to retire; Chloe Hughes (who was discussed here above) lost in qualifying.
