Prizes in the Masters are

£100 - 1st round loser

£200 - QF

£400 - SF

£800 - F

£1,500 Winner

It used to be a 32 draw with an extra round of prize money and I think the winner got nearer £2K.

What do we think the rationale is behind Freya playing these events? Part of her training block, perhaps? I know she's been at the NTC with Laura but Laura seems to now have headed back to Florida.

Seems odd to me but then I'm far removed from being any kind of coaching strategist!

I can only suggest she is trying to build up some funds. Whether that means she has had her funding cut, will only lead to speculation. My understanding is that Freya does not come from a wealthy background, so it may just be a safeguard in case she ends up having to fund her own tennis in the future.
Also don't forget Freya is now based in London rather than at home in the Nottingham area.

Or maybe as a condition of her funding she is required to support this event having qualified for it?  Anyway, most players are back in the UK now and not a bad pay day on offer compared with pro events.

I would be extremely surprised if a condition of funding was for Freya to play in this late year British Tour Masters.

I am afraid I more worry about just what her funding position is. She has not overall rankingswise progressed this year as well as she probably wanted to and maybe not as well as some LTA stats people think she should. But who knows ...

I've no idea but i would be amazed/horrified if the LTA had cut Freya's funding.

She's only just turned 19, she hasn't risen greatly this year but that's partly because she made such a huge jump before, she's still the same player she was, with the same potential, nothing is linear.

However, I wouldn't put it past them.....

I absolutely agree CD. I guess though we better be careful not to hypothesize too much and get at the LTA based on zero info and this could have nothing to do with funding or lack thereof. Though seperately the fact that there is such little info generally on funding remains pretty ridiculous

I agree cutting Freya's funding will be a mistake... Women Tennis is not like "Sharapova" time anymore. Its seems like women tennis skill maturity is getting older.... Women's game is tougher then ever now more like a man game
