The first event of the year, a Grade 2 in Sheffield has just finished.

The final was between the top two seeds, with unranked Louise Holtum defeating Manisha Foster (WTA 1027) in straight sets 7-6(4), 6-3

I was impressed with Louise when she played Shrewsbury. I think she is capable of getting a tour ranking if she desires.

Premier event in Loughborough gets a good entry list, as always at Loughborough.

Taking part are Freya, Lucy Brown, Serena Nash, Beth, Emily Arb, Manisha, Savannah, Ellie-Rose, and lots more interesting players......

In the QF of the Premier event:

Freya v Maia L

Beth v Lucy Brown

Manisha v Emily Erb

Ellie-Rose v Lisa W

In the QFs, Freya needed three sets to defeat Maia.

Lucy thrashed Beth

Emily Arb def. Manisha

and Lisa def. Ellie-Rose easily


In the semis, Freya won over Lucy

and Lisa defeated Emily

Lisa seems slowly but surely to be getting her mojo back.  Hope she's healthy from here on in and continues to progress.....despite not being in my ranking picks........

the 'big' news in the British Tour this week is that Katie Boulter is in the Main Draw at Billesley !

Good luck, Katie.

Hope the gremlins of 2015 are all behind you.

Freya is also here, and Manisha, and Lucy and Lisa.

(and Eve Daniels, who I always read as 'Dan Evans' and wonder why he's snuck into a women's event........ sad state of affairs......)

Bit of a 'shock' defeat for Lucy Brown today, against Eva Siskova.

Katie B though has had two nice wins

Lisa W, on the other hand, withdrew - hope she's OK.

Freya too has decided to turn her back on Tour events this week (thank goodness).

At Bath this week, Fran Stephenson is top seed. With Lisa as no. 2.

Very interesting is that Eden Silva is in the draw and down to play.

Youngsters Nell Miller, Eden and Jodie-Annie, all just back from foreign climes, are playing.

As is youngster Erin Richardson who - I believe - is the younger sister of Eden.

And Katie Boulter is also here.

yes, but strange then that Lisa is playing this one, but Freya not.

(although Freya did last week and Lisa withdrew....)
